THR Prahova sees 31% growth

24.10.2005, 18:48 9

The investments made in Ploiesti over the last few years have led to a rejuvenation of the hotel industry in the city, as the number of foreign tourists increased. Turism, Hoteluri si Restaurante Prahova, which operates the Central Hotel, Ploiesti''s largest hotel, witnessed a 31% growth in nine-month turnover compared with the same time last year. Its revenues by the end of September amounted to more than 3.4 million RON (some 0.95 million euros), compared with 2.6 million RON (0.72 million euros) last year. "Analysing the physical indicators of the accommodations operation we can see a change in the client structure, in the sense that the share of the segment of foreign tourists has increased, both in terms of arrivals (from 27.2% in 2004 to 30.7% in 2005) and of the number of tourists spending the night (from 45.2% in 2004 to 48.3% in 2005)," the report filed by the company with RASDAQ reads. "This is the outcome of the new investments that have become operational now, which allowed us to diversify the offer and attract new customers that are primarily interested in comfort and quality regardless of the price. This segment of clients would previously use the services in Bucharest, as no hotel in Ploiesti was up to this standard," the company officials explain. ZF
