Toyota Romania estimates 16% turnover increase

22.03.2007, 20:17 5

Toyota Romania anticipates it will see an approximately 130 million-euro turnover this year, up 16% against last year, George Kyriazis, the company's general manager, told MEDIAFAX agency. Car sales account for two thirds of the company's business, with service and the sale of car parts accounting for the remainder. Company sales amounted to 6,152 vehicles last year, 5,707 of which were cars, with this year's target set at 8,200 vehicles. The sales increase will be prompted by the launch of new models and by the overall growth of the car market, estimated by Toyota representatives at 4-5%. According to representatives of the Japanese brand, the car market will see a slight increase this year. This increase is a result of the decline in the sales of local cars, confusion regarding the first registration tax and the situation at Daewoo Automobile Romania, which even if privatised, could not achieve the production levels seen last year.
