Unita Turism Holding, controlled by German businessman Josef Goschy, has recently approved the merger by absorption with Traian SA from Drobeta-Turnu Severin and General Auto in Mamaia in a General Meeting, according to data published in the Official Gazette. The move will bring a few more hotels in the company's portfolio. "Unita Turism owns 25 hotels scattered all over the country, with at least one other hotel to enter its portfolio by the end of this year, Marius Pintilie, chief executive of Unita Turism told ZF. The company is the majority shareholder of Unita Turism Holding, with a stake of over 95%. According to Pintilie, Unita Turism Holding will have a total 2,730 rooms in its portfolio by the end of this year. "We have estimated that the market value of assets held by Unita Turism Holding exceeds 138 million euros," says Pintilie. He specified he estimated turnover worth 14 million euros for the company this year, a 26% increase against 2005. Unita Turism saw a loss of some 140,000 euros last year, given the investments it made. The president of Unita Turism is Josef Goschy. The company is the second biggest hotel chain in Romania, after SIF Transilvania, which has 60 hotels in its portfolio.
