Valer Blidar, one of the most important Romanian industrialists,who controls Astra Vagoane Călători and established BancaComercială Feroviară (Railway Commercial Bank) last year, has won atender to deliver 50 passenger cars to an operator in CzechRepublic, after having signed a contract for 100 carriages with anItalian operator two months before.
"We will sign the contract with a Czech railway company soon. Wewill build 50 luxury cars by the end of next year that will be usedfor tourists in the Czech Republic," said Valer Blidar, 65, ownerof the Astra Vagoane Călători passenger carriage manufacturer,whose turnover stood at 51.4 million euros last year, while profitreached 22.8 million euros.
He would not reveal the name of the Czech company with which hewill sign the deal, nor its value, but he might collect anythingbetween 25 million euros and 42.5 million euros, according to ZF'scalculations, if taking into account the price per passengercarriage ranges between 550,000 euros and 850,000 euros.
