Zaharul Oradea, one of the top three players on the domestic sugar market, estimates 10% growth in turnover, to 31 million euros for this year. It concluded 2005 with 28 million-euro turnover, the same as in 2004. The company announced 400% growth in exports in 2005 compared with the previous year, due to contracts signed with Hungarian partners. "We have the advantage of our geographic location, close to the Hungarian border, a country that has recently joined the EU. This situation led to an increase of 400% in exports," stated Corneliu Pentilescu, the general manager of the Oradea-based company. Output destined for foreign markets accounts for some 8% of the turnover of the company, while 92% is derived from the sale of Diamant products on the domestic market. The company has made investments to boost its production capacity, to broaden its product range and boost its packaging capacity, among other things, over the last five years. The total value of investments in 2005 amounted to 2 million euros. ZF
