The Nadlac-Constanta motorway (750 km), could be ready by theend of 2013, with the exception of the Pitesti-Sibiu section (116.6km), considering that by the end of the year tenders will beorganised for all sections between Nadlac and Sibiu, say therepresentatives of the Transport Ministry.

The Nadlac-Constanta motorway is part of the Pan-EuropeanCorridor IV, the leading route connecting the Black Sea with theEuropean Union, but which, although it constantly features in theGovernment's plans, has been neglected by the authorities for overtwenty years. So far only 264 km - the Pitesti-Cernavoda motorway -have been finalised out of the 750 km allocated for Romania.

"Tenders will be organised for all sections of Corridor IV,between Nadlac and Sibiu by the end of the year, with constructionset for completion in two and a half years to three years' time. The Nadlac-Sibiu section will most likely be ready by 2013 ifconstructors do their job properly, if there is money forexpropriations and money from the budget to co-finance thesesections," says Adrian Ionescu, director of the motorway divisionof the National Motorways and National Roads Company in Romania(CNADNR).
