117m euros to be invested in Obor

Obor market in Bucharest will be turned into a commercial centre of almost 140,000 square metres in the wake of investment worth 117 million euros. The developer will be announced after final bids have been submitted by September 25, stated Neculai Ontanu, the mayor of Sector 2. "The plot of land on which Obor market is located at present is worth 12.7 million euros and investment in the commercial centre will amount to 117 million euros, according to the feasibility study. The sum will be born by investors, who will also manage the commercial centre over a maximum period of 49 years," explained Ontanu. The sector hall will see to it that the functions of the initial projects are observed and will also keep an eye on rental prices for stands, which will not exceed current ones, according to the Sector Hall officials. Besides the agri-food market, similar to the current market in terms of surface area - 4,650 square metres, the commercial centre will also include commercial and office spaces, a leisure space and a car park with almost 2,000 parking spots.
