Banatim sees 86bn ROL sales

11.04.2003, 00:00 5

Footwear company Banatim Timisoara, an entirely Romanian-held business, expects to see turnover in ROL up 7.5% this year, considering it has gained two new foreign clients: Rieker (Germany) and Orizo (Italy), company officials say. The Timisoara-based company last year posted 80bn ROL turnover (some $2.4 million) and expects to see it up to 86bn ROL in 2003. The management says this year's net profit will reach 2.7bn ROL, compared with the 1.8bn ROL in 2002. "We made some 600,000 pairs of footwear last year in addition to other components, such as uppers. Only 7% of the total output was sold in Romania, while the rest was exported. We want to sell a higher percentage of our production on the domestic market this year and have already started making new models released early this month," general manager Carmen Cazan told Ziarul Financiar.
