The seven Romanian-based hotels affiliated to Best Western exceeded $10m in turnover last year, according to the data released by the hotel chain officials. "The hotels in the Best Western chain are privately owned and are operated independently, so turnover is reported for every unit. However, an estimate of the total turnover exceeds $10m," Malin Malineanu, coordinator of the Best Western programme in Romania, said. The Best Western chain is planning to expand the Romanian network, which may come to comprise ten hotels by the end of 2004. "Best Western will consolidate and enlarge its penetration area, keeping an eye on the important cities and the representative hotels in the resorts," Malineanu added. ZF
