Travel agency World Travel posted 4.6 million-euro revenues last year, 460,000 euros of which represent the value of cruise tickets sold. The agency sold over 200 voyages on cruise ships, experiencing an over 170% increase in sales on this segment. According to the manager of the agencyes cruise department, Cristina Oncescu, the destination in highest demand for cruise holidays was the Caribbean, followed by Northern Europe and French Polynesia, with the majority of cruises being conducted through the cruise operators Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises. "Given that voyages on cruise ships were included by Romanian tour operators as late as in 2005, we believe the trend is very good. This year, we are expecting the sector of cruise ship holidays to increase by over 50%," stated Cristina Oncescu. Estimates regarding this yeares growth are based on the fact that World Travel this year became an exclusive agent of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, the owner of Royal Caribbean International and of Celebrity Cruises, one of the leading cruise operators in the world.
