DTZ: office costs in Bucharest up by 45%

Bucharest will climb nine positions this year in the ranking of the 137 most expensive cities in terms of annual usage costs of office space (which consist of rent and other expenses) to 102nd, according to a survey conducted by DTZ, a leading provider of real estate services. The annual cost of office buildings in Bucharest will reach 3,830 euros this year, up 45% against last year, according to DTZ estimates. In its previous report, Bucharest ranked eleventh in a list that included 134 cities around the world. The average surface area per employee is 12.5 square metres, the highest in Central and Eastern Europe, but still small at a global level, according to the DTZ report. In comparison, the area allocated per individual in Prague, Budapest and Kiev is 12 square metres, while in Warsaw, Moscow and St. Petersburg, the figure stands at 10 square metres.
