Genpact to hire 500 people in Cluj

25.09.2007, 19:08 11

Business services and technology solutions provider Genpact, formerly a division of General Electric, will hire 500 staff in Cluj-Napoca, where it will open its second Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centre on the Romanian market at the beginning of October. BPO deals with the outsourcing of business processes that are not related to the company's core business. Genpact's Cluj headquarters will be based at the Olimpia Business Center, which is also the location of Nokia's headquarters. Cluj-based Sales Human Resources Consulting handles personnel recruitment and the selection process for Genpact. "We have a framework contract with Genpact, so there is no limit to the number of staff we can recruit- the more, the merrier," Ovidiu Vilceanu, operational manager with the recruitment company, told ZF Transilvania. The Sales Human Resources official did not specify how many people had submitted CVs for Genpact, but he did say there is significant interest from candidates. "Genpact is a big name, which attracts personnel because of its multinational structure, but has had a limited presence so far in Cluj. Most of the companies which have come to Cluj mainly recruit unskilled labour, so attracting skilled personnel is a good stimulant for the labour market," said Vilceanu. Genpact representatives did not wish to provide details on their plans for the Cluj-Napoca-based centre, however, according to information provided by the company this year, Genpact expects to reach 2,000 employees on the Romanian market within the next two years.
