Head of BCR: Crisis will only affect clients with high funding needs

23.09.2008, 21:19 13

Only clients with large financing needs will be affected by the international financial crisis, while regular clients do not have any reasons for concern," says Dominic Bruynseels, chief executive of the BCR (Romanian Commercial Bank). "The international financial crisis is a major concern, but Romania does not risk contamination. As long as the Romanian economy and the local banks continue to be run in a conservative manner, I don't think there will be any problems. Only those with big funding needs could feel the short-term effects, through higher prices," says Bruynseels. Florin Pogonaru, head of the Romanian Businesspeople's Association, in turn, believes the sectors with a high indebtedness level will be the most affected by the international crisis, with the most exposed being construction firms and real estate developers.
