HP Romania anticipates over 100m-euro revenues

06.12.2004, 00:00 8

Total revenues derived by US company Hewlett-Packard (HP) on the local market, through partners inclusive, will amount to approximately 100-110 million euros for 2004, chief executive Radu Enache estimated.

According to the Finance Ministry, the Romanian branch of HP logged 1,130bn ROL turnover last year (approximately 28 million euros). "We had a major project in the public sector last year, which was not as big this year," Radu Enache explained. He says that well over 80% of the total sales come from HP's partners on the local market. "The growth we announced, the 24% year on year refers to the total business, along with our partners on the local market," he pointed out.

Sales of the company to consumers, made through partners, increased this year, and account for an increasingly higher share of the total revenues of the company. "The consumer segment - printers, digital cameras, handhelds and laptops, has accumulated approximately 50-60 million-euro revenue for the entire 2004," Radu Enache specified.

Three HP Romania departments posted higher revenues in the last fiscal year compared with the previous year. The company divided its departments by their specific business into technological solutions (TSG), personal systems (PSG) and image processing (IPG) groups.

TSG, which provides services and equipment for complex IT infrastructure projects, as well as storage solutions, servers, management software and business solutions increased by more than 32% compared with the previous fiscal year. Revenues from the sales of software solutions division rose by over 170%, largely because of the telecom project, Radu Enache had previously said.

The PSG saw 8% growth, with the best performance, a 40% increase registered by the desktop sales. At the same time, the sales of the IPG went up 37% in terms of value, compared with last year.

HP Romania ranks first among IT companies in terms of total sales on the domestic market, Radu Enache says. Its revenues are about 40% higher than those of the main rival. HP expected its total revenues in Romania to go up at least 15% during the FY2005, according to Enache, who confirmed his previous statements for Ziarul Financiar.
