State-run Nuclearelectrica, Hidroelectrica and Termoelectrica, three of the largest energy generating companies on the local market, estimate revenues worth 4.3 billion RON (1.2 billion euros) this year. Nuclearelectrica will see the highest increase, after the company forecast revenues worth 1.36 billion RON (378 million euros), up 52% against 2007, mainly derived after the second reactor at Cernavoda nuclear power station became functional. The company also forecasts net profit worth 12.3 million RON (3.4 million euros), up 33% on last year. Termoelectrica also anticipates spectacular growth in terms of gross profit, and targets 125 million-RON (35 million euros) gross profit for this year, over 12 times higher than in 2007. The money will be used to cover the losses derived in the preceding years. The increase is most likely to be based on partnerships sealed with a view to privatising the Braila, Doicesti, Borzesti and Galati thermal power stations. For the privatisation of Braila, a deal has already been reached by E.ON (Germany) and Enel (Italy), with negotiations for the privatisation of the thermal power station in Doicesti expected to be concluded in a few weeks' time. Hidroelectrica, one of the cheapest state-run generators, has revised this year's revenues upwards, by 3.3%, but they remain lower than last year.
