The modified fiscal code will probably come into force on January 1, 2007, six months after being passed in Parliament, Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu, stated on Tuesday. As a matter of fact, changing the Code is no longer a priority for the PNL (National Liberal Party) and the Government, according to Varujan Vosganian, chairman of the Budget-Finance Committee in the Senate. "We wish to ensure a stable and predictable business environment," said Vladescu, without mentioning what proposals to modify the Code were still being discussed. "The Fiscal Code for 2006 functions in its current form, as it was adopted in 2005. Changing the Fiscal Code is not a priority at the moment. Any modifications made to the Fiscal Code will come into force on January 1, 2007 at the earliest," Varujan Vosganian confirmed for ZIARUL FINANCIAR. ZF
