Compania Nationala Loteria Romana (Romanian Lottery National Company) last year posted profit worth 148.39m RON (44.46m euros), an increase of 21% on the previous year, alongside total revenues worth 1.14bn RON (341m euros), around 18% higher than in 2006. The net profit posted in 2006 stood at 122.6m RON, and total revenues at 967m RON. Business increased by 17.9% from 945.28bn RON to 1.11bn RON (334m euros), according to preliminary data supplied by Loteria Romana. Spending in 2007 went up by 18.4% to 960m RON (287.8m euros). Approximately 10% of the company's 2007 profit (4.4m euros) could be disbursed to employees, in accordance with an emergency ordinance draft the Economy and Finance Ministry prepared at the beginning of the year. Loteria Romana is entirely held by the state through the Economy and Finance Ministry, and currently employs more than 3,000 people.
