Romdis, the logistic partner of the McDonald's restaurants and the main distributor of the frozen products used by the network's fast-food outlets, derived a turnover worth 30.2 million euros last year, up by 27% compared with 2005.
The company saw its gross profit almost double to more than 0.5 million euros over the same period, according to the data provided by Romdis.
"This growth was generated by the positive development of the market, as well as by our constant efforts to make activity more efficient, in particular through a permanent control on operating costs and through the expansion of services we provide to clients," said Mihnea Ioan, the general manager of Romdis.
The company also intends to expand its current distribution and storage capacities.
"The capacity of our current distribution centre (based in Bucharest) is stretched to its maximum potential and is why we are considering several possibilities to expand our operations. The expansion of the current distribution centre, as well as the possible investment in new space in Bucharest or in other regions of the country, are among the options analysed," added Mihnea Ioan.
The company, which numbers approximately 20 clients, including some international retail networks, works with over 100 suppliers of FMCG products. The local branch of the French wine and spirits maker Pernod - Ricard is one of the company's partners.
"Romania's accession to the European Union contributed to the increase in the number of potential suppliers and clients and also to a greater mobility. However, we hope the market's growth after accession will generate a fairer competitive environment and a lessening of the red tape we all have to deal with," added Mihnea Ioan. According to the company's manager, the average number of Romdis employees increases by approximately 50% every year, amid the company's business development. Romdis has also invested in the renewal of its car fleet.
"Our vehicle fleet is constantly growing. In a bid to meet the market demand as well as traffic rules and restrictions, we created a vehicle fleet that covers an entire range of transportation, from a pick-up vehicles to lorries," Mihnea Ioan stated.
