Synevo may acquire local labs

05.03.2007, 18:36 20

Synevo Romania, the laboratory division of the Medicover group, is considering the possibility of acquiring local labs, particularly outside Bucharest, says the company's general manager, Virgil Ivan. "It is a step that can be taken quickly. We are looking at the quality of these labs and at the potential of the market. Domestically, the laboratory market isn't very mature. In the other states, we focused only on acquisitions," said Virgil Ivan. Synevo was established in Romania after the separation of the Medicover Rombel lab division from Medicover. In 2004, following the separation, the resulting entity took the name Synevo. In 2005, the Swedish group decided to expand the concept to Poland as well, where it acquired a private lab, making Poland the first foreign market on which this entirely Romanian-devised brand concept was launched. This year, Synevo International made yet another step towards regional expansion by acquiring a player in Kiev (Ukraine).
