09.01.2003, 00:00 6

Intrarom Bucharest, Hewlett-Packard Austria and Fujitsu Services UK have submitted bids for building the integrated computer system of the Bucharest City Hall, a project estimated to cost some $7-$8 million, to be covered by the local budget. "Twenty-nine companies came and bought the job specifications book for this tender, but only three of them actually submitted bids. We will announce the winner some time over the next three or four months, given that the offers of the companies stand for 120 days," Ioana Raicu, head of the IT Systems Development Department within the Bucharest City Hall said. The documentation for the tender was devised along with the experts of the US-based Associates in Rural Development (ARD) consulting firm. The consultant fee will be paid with a $76,000 non-repayable loan from the US Trade Development Agency. The IT system will comprise ten components according to the City Hall's activities, which include management of financial, human and material resources of the institution. It will also allow building an urban database of Bucharest, a City Hall electronic archive, as well as ensuring the management of documents, workflow and public relations. ZF
