The top 50 Romanian private companies on the Romanian marketlast year posted 34.3 billion RON (8.1 billion euros) in turnover,up 5% on 2008, according to ZF calculations based on Trade Registrydata.
As a first, ZF put together the ranking of top companies eitherwith Romanian private capital or held by foreign entrepreneurswhose business is focused on the Romanian market, which revealsthat Romanian businesses only generated 8% of the turnovers of thetop 300 companies in the economy.
This is the first ranking that focuses on Romanian entrepreneursposting hundreds of millions of euros in turnover with one company,but the ranking does not include well-known businessmen such as DanŞucu and George Copos, who employ thousands of people and have moreplants in Romania with tens of millions of euros in cumulatedturnover, but whose turnover per fiscal entity is less than 80million euros, the minimal threshold for this ranking.
15 of the top 50 Romanian private companies posted at least 30%higher turnover in RON in 2009 against 2008, in the first year ofrecession after nine years of growth.
