TRW Automotive Safety Systems, a subsidiary of the American group TRW Automotive, which, among other things, produces integrated steering systems, suspension systems, airbags and seat belts, will invest over 4.6 million euros (6 million dollars) this year in developing new plants in the western part of the country. "We are studying several locations, with a decision to be made shortly. The new plants will not be greenfield investments, instead we intend to rent the necessary space for production. The expansion of our production facilities is part of a development strategy for our Romanian subsidiary, with the plants to be satellites of the factory in Timis county," said Elena Sere, financial manager of Automotive Safety Systems. The company management did not wish to provide further details on the towns targeted for the new plants, but specified that they would be located in the western part of the country and would generate an increase in the number of employees by 1,100 people.
