UPS sees 30% growth

19.10.2004, 00:00 6

Trans Curier Service (TCS), the authorised representative of UPS, the American express shipping company, estimates it will make $4.1 million turnover this year, up around 30% on last year. TCS' turnover has grown by 30% to 40% every year since 2000, chief executive Iulia Nartea said. TCS has 85 staff in Bucharest and 60 in the rest of the country, and made net profit of around $56,000 last year. The end-of-year figures were expected, given the company's investment in a new operational hub at Bucharest-Baneasa International Airport. UPS started operations in Romania through Romtrans (founder of TCS) in 1990 and currently has two operational hubs - one in Bucharest and another in Timisoara. Other companies authorised to provide postal services in Romania include: Compania Nationala Posta Romana (Romanian Post Office), TNT Romania, DHL International, Romexpress Service LTD (FedEx), Fun Courier Express, Direct Mail Solutions, Direct Mail and Press Distribution and Alo Curier Services.
