Employees of Carpatcement Holding, the local subsidiary of German cement manufacturer HeidelbergCement, will earn a gross income worth over 900 euros this year, over 20% more than last year. In 2007, the average gross salary in Carpatcement Holding stood at over 750 euros, 80% more than the average gross salary in the overall economy. Last year, the gross average salary amounted to around 380 euros, according to data from the National Statistics Institute. "We look at various studies in order to see where we stand in terms of wages from one year to another," says Eliza Udoi, human resources manager at Carpatcement Holding. The German cement manufacturer has around 1,000 employees in Romania, distributed throughout three production facilities in Fieni, Deva and Bicaz.
