Comvex Constanta considers holding back dividends

29.09.2005, 19:46 4

Harbour operator Comvex Constanta is considering whether to pay out of dividends from its 2005 net profits, which it otherwise plans to use for investment. The company management expects net profits to reach 5 million euros this year. "We are seriously considering not paying dividends next year, as the costs entailed by taking out loans for investment have increased in the wake of the new NBR regulations. This is why we will propose to our shareholders to use part of the 2005 profits to fund our future investments. We are expecting some 5 million euros in profits for this year," Comvex general manager Virorel Panait told Ziarul Financiar. Comvex shareholders recently endorsed a modification of the value of some investments that are scheduled for completion early in 2006, as well as the start of formalities to take out a 6.5 million euro loan to fund them. This will boost Comvex''s operating capacity by 30% as well as increase its freight unloading speed by 44% to 65,000 tonnes per day. ZF
