Holcim Romania, part of the Swiss Holcim group, has upped its cement prices by 10-12% since the beginning of the year, said the company's general manager Markus Wirth. He added the sale price of the producers is not the same as offered on the market, given that some dealers take advantage of the areas with greater demand and charge higher prices. The increase in cement prices was influenced by the increase in spending, especially in energy spending, the official explained. Holcim manager said demand for cement remained very high, especially on the residential and infrastructure segment. Carpatcement Holding, one of the main competitors of Holcim on the cement market, said it raised its prices by 10-15% since January 2008.
