Lufthansa's low cost division follows Nokia to Cluj

07.03.2008, 20:17 10

Germanwings, the low-cost division of the German air operator Lufthansa, will add a fourth flight from Romania on the Cluj- Cologne route as of May. The launch of a flight from Cluj is in part linked with the opening of the Nokia plant, which also attracted other German companies, such as Goldbeck, which is conducting construction works for the plant in the Industrial Park Tetarom III in Jucu. "Goldbeck is interested in signing a contract with Germanwings for the Cologne - Cluj route, as the company is currently conducting operations in Cluj," said Andreas Engel, PR Manager of Germanwings. The company representative added that this year he expects to transport 22,000 passengers on this route. The company is also considering other flights from Cluj, but a decision is expected in autumn at the earliest.
