Home appliances producer Arctic Gaesti, the biggest such manufacturer on the domestic market, has posted a turnover of 40 million euros for the first quarter of this year, largely due to increased exports, Ugur Kayali, general manager of Arctic Romania told ZIARUL FINANCIAR. Judging from these results, Arctic has already derived 18% of the total turnover budgeted for this year in the first quarter.
"The results seen in the first three months of 2007 are slightly higher than the projections we made at the beginning of the year, and we believe we will meet our initial estimates for this year," added Kayali.
For 2007, the company targets a business worth 225-230 million euros, up 15% on the 196 million euros seen in 2006.
Last year, Arctic increased its team by 400 people, most of whom were hired to work at the plant in Gaesti, which currently employs around 2,000 people. Arctic has recently started a social awareness programme for students, which has been developed in partnership with seven universities. In 2006, the company hired 25 students to work in its marketing and export departments.
Accounting for more than half of the company's business, the domestic sales reached a total of 106 million euros in 2006, accompanied by a production increase of 1,075,000 units, as compared with 900,000 units produced in 2005. Around 65% of exports went to European markets. In 2006, Turkey accounted for 14% of exports, France for 12%, Germany for 11% and Poland for 9%.
Arctic has invested around 10 million euros in developing its logistic platform and an additional production line, in order to sustain its commercial activities on foreign markets. Investments for this year are estimated to be at around 10 million euros. The company's main objective is developing the post-sales department by investing in a call centre for its servicing network.
