Finnish Consolis group, the largest manufacturer of prefabricated products in Europe, with a business of over 1.4 billion euros, has bought prefabricated concrete products factory Asa Cons Turda, in a complex deal whereby Hungarian ASA group sold its operations in Romania and Hungary. "We cannot reveal the value of the deal now, the talks for the takeover of the group our company is part of started a while ago. The acquisition of Asa Cons Romania by the Finnish Consolis group is a first step towards the development of our business so that over the coming period we believe we will be able to cope with competition from Asian and US producers more easily," said Stefan Pap, production manager of the Asa Cons Romania company. Finnish Consolis group has previously been interested in taking over Somaco in Bucharest. It operates more than 130 factories in 20 countries. Talks between the two parties lasted six months.
