Ghetea, ARB: Some clients suffer from the physician's syndrome

Banks must help reboot the activity of companies that havesucceeded in adapting to crisis conditions even though guaranteeshave changed and risks are greater, reckons Radu Ghetea, chairmanof the Romanian Banking Association (ARB). "There are companiesthat are managing to keep up the pace. Solutions need to be foundto help them overcome the crisis. The banking system must aidcompanies that prove they're able to do something boost theirbusiness," said Ghetea during the "Mediafax talks about banking"workshop organised in partnership with ARB, CEC and PwC. NicolaeDanila, a member of NBR's Board of Directors and former BCRchairman, has also recently stated bankers needed to get involvedand support Romanian firms with viable businesses to help theeconomy rebound. Ghetea explained there were some clients unwillingto talk with banks, since they are suffering from the physician'ssyndrome, namely "I won't go to the doctor because he'll tell meI'm ill and therefore I am not ill".
