Around 250,000 university students graduated this year, but not all will join a pension fund because some are already working, whist others will continue their studies and not get a job. However, the number of mandatory pension fund clients will see a significant rise in autumn, when a large part of university and high school graduates get a job and are obligated to join a fund. "We could have a surge in autumn, when faculty and high school graduates get jobs and join mandatory pensions funds. Since the end of the original sign-up campaign (in mid-January), things have not gone very well, only around 16,000 people have joined a pension fund", says Cristina Nitescu, general manager of Omniasig Pensii, a company that manages a mandatory pension fund with almost 64,000 participants.
