The revenues of Orange Romania, the largest mobile phone operator on the local market, went up 7% in the third quarter of the year and reached 349 million euros, while the number of clients increased by 10%, to 10.2 million users, announced France Telecom group, the company's majority shareholder. In the first half, Orange's revenues went up 9%, amid a 17.7% rise in the number of clients. "The 7% revenue increase in the third quarter was mainly prompted by the rise in the number of clients amid tighter competition on the telecom market. We also saw a rise in the share subscribers hold in the overall base of Orange clients against the same time last year, which represents a balanced progression of our client base structure in terms of the value," Richard Moat, CEO of Orange Romania, told ZF. The 349 million euros are the largest quarterly revenue obtained by Orange since its market entry in 1997. France Telecom, one of the leading telecom operators worldwide, notes that the results of its Romanian subsidiary are some of the best of the group.
