Apolodor Com Impex, one of the leading companies with Romaniancapital on the local market, with an over 95 million-euro business, expects the construction market to record rises as late as in May2010, at best, while at worst, the crisis will be over in September2010.
The company, which started operations in 1992 with demolitionworks, is currently one of the main contractors specialising ininfrastructure works. Apolodor has radically changed its strategythis year, acting as a subcontractor of the Arad-Timisoara motorwaysection (32 km), for the rehabilitation of Bucharest's old centreand of Lia Manoliu stadium.
Recently, Apolodor has won a contract as a general contractorfor the construction of a new bridge over the Danube-Black Seacanal, worth 19.44 million euros. The bridge will be built at the0plus540 kilometre of the canal and will connect the south of theport of Constanta and the Bucuresti-Constanta motorway, being setto link the northern part of the port of Constanta with thesouthern part.
"Among the factors that will generate growth next year are theresumption of direct investments in the economy. I intend to expandthe number of infrastructure projects. I fondly recall the timeswhen private contracts accounted for most of our business," saysRadu Ouatu, general manager and owner of Apolodor Com Impex.
He believes the state should monitor tenders more aggressivelyand be more demanding when it comes to the manner in whichconstruction works of infrastructure projects are carriedout.

"In times of crisis, when money is in short supply, one must notraise barriers to companies wishing to take part in tenders, onemust see that contracts are met in time and that quality criteriaare fulfilled," says Ouatu.
