Private clinics operators see up to 70% rise in H1

23.07.2009, 17:03 11

The leading private clinics operators on the Romanian market posted rises of 20 to 70% in the first half of this year, pursuing the upward trend experienced in early 2009. Medical services are one of the sectors less affected by the economic crisis, but, in light of the first-half results, players have started to talk about declines that could occur towards the end of the year. "The medical industry cannot help but be affected by the economic crisis. Those that managed to see a significant rise at the beginning of the year will record more moderate rises in the second half," said Florin Andronescu, business developer of Sanador, one of the top ten networks on the Romanian market. Sanador posted a 22.5 million-RON (5.3 million-euro) turnover in the first six months of this year, up 38% against the similar period of last year, in line with the originally budgeted turnover. Euroclinic private hospital recorded 45% higher revenues in the first half of the year against the similar period of 2008. The rise was based on the increase in the number of new patients and on surgical activity.
