Rigips targets 23m euro sales

07.05.2003, 00:00 8

Rigips Romania SRL, branch of the British construction supplies group BPB posted 3.2 million euro operating income for 2002, while turnover reached 19.7 million euros. The company is planning to attain 23 million euro turnover and 3.2 million euro net profit in 2003. The company, one of the leading producers on the plasterboard and plaster market, as Rigips Romania SRL general manager Constantin Hariton says, saw sales grow by approximately 40% last year. One of the reasons for this trend was the merging of BPB's plasterboard and plaster operations on the Romanian market into one company, Rigips Romania SRL. Rigips accounts for some 40% of the domestic plasterboard market estimated to have totalled 12.3 million sqm last year and about 38 million euros in sales. Rigips' rivals on this market are Lafarge Arcom Gips SA (the only producer in Romania), which accounts for 25%-26% of the market, Knauf (Germany) - 22% and the latest addition to this market, Norway-based Norgips - about 12%.
