The chairperson of Mures County Council, Lokodi Edita Emoke, stated she asked the management of Transilvania airport to draw up a study on the investments needed to develop the airport, adding the airport was likely to team up with private firms. Lokodi stated that since she asked the government to release funds for the airport and instead received only indications on how private capital can be raised, the airport of Targu Mures was likely to enter a partnership with private firms. "The airport of Targu Mures is not included in the development programme aimed at airports of national interest. We must come up with a financial formula to secure investments in the cargo area and the expansion of the runway by one kilometre and a half. We asked the airport management to come up with a study, we are talking of a lot of money the airport's budget cannot provide," showed Lokodi. She said that since she was appointed as chairperson of Mures County Council, she had received at least 10 bids from interested foreign firms. There are firms from the US, the UK, Germany, Austria and even multinationals, interested either in a partnership with Mures County Council, or in providing consulting services or expertise in European fund raising.
