Tarnava sees business and personnel decline

31.10.2006, 18:04 12

In the first six months of the year, Sighisoara-based clothing manufacturer Tarnava recorded turnover of 2.3 million euros, dropping slightly against last year's 2.33 million euros. "The drop is mainly due to personnel fluctuation. Whereas at the end of 2005, the company had 941 employees, the number of employees was down to 891 people in September 2005. We still have orders for men's shirts, women's blouses, teenagers' shirts, and will launch products for the "office" shirt market that entails importing from Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic by the end of the year," Cecilia Hancu, general manager of the company told ZF. Tarnava's management estimates a turnover worth some 4.4 million euros for this year, a 4.59% drop against last year, when the turnover exceeded 4.5 million euros. In the forthcoming period the company intends to expand its own network to Timisoara, Arad, Bucharest and Constanta, introducing new products into its portfolio such as shirts for the youth market with appliqu?s and embroidery designs and blouses with spangles for teenage girls and boys.
