Three entrepreneurs seize last opportunity to get EU money

Ana Imep, Polisano, and Ecopack, held by businesspeople GeorgeCopos, Ilie Vonica and Vladimir Cohn, respectively, are among the36 big enterprises selected to receive non-repayable EU funds outof 186 projects submitted. In all, the three companies are set toreceive 33.96 million RON (8 million euros) from the EU.


The projects of Romanian entrepreneurs and of foreign-heldcompanies seized the last opportunity to receive EU funding,because the entire budget allocated by the EU until 2013 for bigenterprises, 110 million euros, has run out in the wake of thisselection. Companies were able to request up to 20 million RON (4.7million euros) in non-repayable funding to build productionfacilities and to acquire equipment.
Companies that failed to receive money from the EU includeAntibiotice Iaşi, Azomureş, Collini, Soceram, Prefabricate VestPatru and Vrancart, because they did not get the rating necessaryto obtain the funding.
