Insurer Unita Timisoara cashed 644.9bn ROL (17.4m euros) from insurance premiums in the first six months of 2003, up from the 295.7bn ROL (some 7m euros) posted in the year-ago period. Premiums underwritten went up 77%, from 417.5bn ROL at the end of June 2002, to 741.7bn ROL. According to information disclosed by the insurer, Unita logged 28.8bn ROL losses, about 4bn ROL more than in the first half of last year. General insurance has come to account for 91.1% of total revenues (up from 84.3%) and was worth 587.2bn ROL in H1, 2003, while life insurance increased from 46.5bn ROL to 57.8bn ROL (8.9% of revenues).
