Insurance company Agras, which specialises in agricultural insurance, collected $4.4 million (145bn ROL) in gross premiums in 2002, 52% more than in 2001 in real terms. "The trend is due to the increase in the number of farming insurance contracts following the enforcement of Law 381/2002 on farming insurance," Maura Klassek, Agras general manager said.  Law 381 on paying damages in case of natural disasters affecting the farming business stipulates that only those producers insured against the standard risks (storms, heavy rains, fires, landslides etc.) will have their claims settled in case of a natural disaster.
