Domo has 8m euros for large stores

15.12.2005, 20:31 6

Electronics and home appliances retailer Domo will invest 8 million euros next year when it plans to expand its network of stores covering a large surface area stores. "We want to open three 3,000 square metre stores in Timisoara, Constanta and Bucharest and expand the network from 110 to 120 shops," says Lorand Szarvadi, general manager of Domo Retail, the company that operates the Domo chain. With this decision Domo follows in the footsteps of competitors Altex and Flanco, which launched a number of large stores this year. Szarvadi adds that some of the new stores will be opened following greenfield investments, which will then be transferred to the sale & lease back funding system. "Although opening large stores is not justified at the moment, considering that only a small number of items generate the bulk of sales of such centres, they are an important element for the image of the company, which indirectly contributes to the increase in store sales," Domo''s manager says.
