17.07.2006, 19:04 6

Mega Image stores, owned by the Belgian group Delhaize, posted a turnover worth some 54 million euros (196 million RON) last year, a 50% increase against the 36 million euros posted in the previous year, according to Mediafax. The company turned a profit in 2005, after it had posted losses worth 2.4 million euros in the previous year. Delhaize did not open any new store last year, but plans to expand this year to 21 stores, against the 17 it currently owns in Romania. The next supermarket will be opened this summer in Constanta and it will be the second Mega Image store in this city. The company has already opened a supermarket in Bucharest at the beginning of this year, in the Pipera area, with the capital being a potential target for the group's future expansion.
