Popoviciu builds cinema and petrol station in Baneasa

Businessman Gabriel Popoviciu, who controls the Baneasa shoppingcentre in northern Bucharest through Baneasa Developments, willstart construction of a 13-screen cinema, a petrol station, and a4,000 square-metre entertainment centre, the company announced.

The three projects entail an overall investment of 22 millioneuros, with the entertainment centre to be completed in the springof next year, while the cinema is set for inauguration in thesecond half of 2011.

The announcement comes around a month after the businessmancompleted the sale of the IKEA store in Baneasa, which fetched himaround 30 million euros, according to ZF estimates.

The cinema in the Baneasa area will cover 15,000 square metresand will seat over 2,700 people. The entertainment centre willinclude a bowling area, video games and other types ofentertainment, while the petrol station will include a car wash anda drive-in restaurant.
