The Finance minister was appointed chairman of the new group by the Merger Congress that took place on Saturday and was attended by 80 persons, according to the former leader of the Monarchist Liberal Party, Radu Ionescu Galati.

This week, the party will begin negotiations in order to join CDR 2000, which said it was willing to accept the group that split from PNL. Dan Amedeo Lazarescu on Monday told a press conference that he had been assured by PN?CD (Peasants Party) leader Ion Diaconescu that the new party would be granted a number of eligible seats on the Alliance's lists.
