01.11.2006, 18:46 11

Czech pharmaceutical company Zentiva reported sales on the Romanian market worth approximately 62 million euros in the first nine months of this year, a 11-fold increase against the same time last year. However, last year's value does not include the business of producer Sicomed Bucharest, taken over last autumn by Zentiva. Sicomed had posted business worth almost 43 million euros and a net profit worth some 9 million euros in the first nine months of last year. Brands manufactured by Sicomed now account for over 65% of Zentiva's drug sales in Romania. After the acquisition was concluded last autumn, the Romanian market has become the second largest in the Czech group. Moreover, after the third quarter of the year, the local market had the fastest growth pace in the group. Former Sicomed brands saw sales worth some 41 million euros in the first nine months of this year.
