Computerising the state

The Romanian Government announced a giant computerisationproject, with an estimated value of 500 million euros, but few ofthe objectives became reality. Even if they do not reach 500million euros, the state's IT projects will go ahead, estimateproviders of services, because the administration is beginning tograsp that it cannot be efficient if its data are notinterconnected and put in context, believes Horaţiu Berdilă, CEO ofRomsys, one of the largest providers of solutions and services onthe Romanian market.

Outsourcing IT&C services

Companies will continue to outsource IT operations, especiallyon the IT infrastructure segment, but mostly through smallcontracts, according to estimates on the Romanian market. Companieswill continue to outsource their IT departments, for instance, tospecialised companies, in order to focus on their corebusiness.

Cloud Computing

Cloud computing services, allowing companies to accessapplications and data on remote servers from specialised providersare still at an incipient stage of development. But the marketcould see fast growth as companies realise these solutions are away of cutting costs, making the acquisition of high-performingservers, for instance, unnecessary.

Social networks

Social networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn will continue togain ground and be used increasingly more by companies to promotetheir services or to find the employees they need.

Security software

The explosion of social networks will also generate biggerbusiness for providers of security software because the number ofcyber attacks will in turn rise on such websites, estimates CătălinCoşoi, head of online threats of BitDefender, a Romanian developerof security software.
