Verbund and Martifer want almost 100 turbines in Tulcea by 2012

Austria's Verbund, an utilities group with turnover worth around3.5bn euros, and Portuguese Martifer, a company with over 600m-euroturnover specialised in renewable energy and metallicconstructions, plan to deliver, by early 2012, wind farms with anoverall capacity of around 240 MW, entailing investments of above360m euros. Tulcea is the destination of both investors.
Verbund teamed up with a domestic developer as early as the end of2008 for a 150 MW wind farm near Casimcea locality of Tulceacounty, and the project subsequently expanded by around 50 MW owingto favourable land conditions.
Overall, near Casimcea Verbund should install 201 MW (77 turbines).At this size, investments could top 300m euros.
Another project shaping up is that of Martifer Portuguese companythat chose the area of Babadag, Tulcea county, to build amedium-sized wind farm.
"With a total of 20 turbines, total planned capacity stands at 42MW, scheduled to become operational in April 2011," reveals theproject published by the Environment Ministry. At this size, thePortuguese company's investments are likely to go beyond 60meuros.
