Zara could enter Romanian market directly

Inditex, the largest clothing retailer in Europe and owner of the Zara brand, has recently appointed Lucian Dorobantu, former commercial manager of Germanos, to the position of country manager for Romania, according to market sources. Dorobantu's recruitment could lead to Inditex's direct entry onto the Romanian market, given that the group's first stores were operated under a franchise, by Azadea Group. Another indication is the publication of recruitment ads on Romanian websites and on the job section of the group's website. The positions available in Romania are for sales representatives and a HR manager. The Spanish group's interest in the Romanian market has significantly increased over the last year, with another five brands from Inditex's portfolio (Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Stradivarius, Zara Home and Oysho) to be introduced onto the Romanian market when Bucharest's Baneasa Shopping City mall opens. Zara's first store on the Romanian market is located in the Plaza Romania mall, in the Militari district of Bucharest, and was opened under a franchise by Azadea Group. Zara has a second store in the Polus Center mall in Cluj-Napoca. Inditex (Industria del Diseno Textil), the largest clothing retailer in Europe, with business worth over 4.1 billion euros in the first half of this year, includes brands such as Zara, Bershka, Pull and Bear and Massimo Dutti, and has around 3,250 stores, in over 65 countries.
