01.05.2006, 00:00 9

Agroindustriala Bucium, one of the medium-sized players on the wine market, will invest 4.5 million euros this year to retool the winemaking facility in Bucium and to acquire new vineyards. "It is the biggest investment that we have made over the last two years. The programme will start this year and is due to be completed in 2007. We are preparing to join the European Union and we have to meet certain standards," said Constantin Minciu, general manager of the company. Minciu specified that the company would continue its vineyard acquisition programme this year, after 70 hectares were bought last year. The company would thus reach beyond its main market, by expanding to Vaslui county. "We will buy another 200 hectares of land in Vaslui county, in two locations," Minciu added. The company produces bottled wine under the Bucium ?"49 brand, with part of its production to be delivered to foreign markets. The company estimates a turnover standing at over 20 million RON (5.5 million euros) for this year, 25% more against 2005. ZF
