Ana Imep plans to double production

18.11.2003, 00:00 9

Ana Imep is in talks with Turkish Arcelik Group in an attempt to persuade it to relocate its entire electrical engine production from Turkey to Pitesti, said George Copos, owner of the Ana Group, the majority shareholder of Ana Imep. If talks are successful, Ana Imep might see its turnover double in the next couple of years. The significant growth in Ana Imep's quote on the Stock Exchange over the last few weeks has led the market to speculate Arcelik, the Turkish Group that holds Arctic Gaesti is planning to buy the Romanian company, which is the largest producer of washing machine engines in the Central and Eastern Europe. Ana Imep shares have gone up from 1,800-1,900 ROL to 2,800bn ROL in the last two months, providing a yield of about 50% for investors.

"We don't plan to sell, on the contrary, we're trying to persuade Arcelik that Ana Imep is capable of handling their washing machine engine production. Arcelik has an engine-making facility in Turkey and we are trying to prove we can make better, cheaper engines here," George Copos added. ZF
